Lucero has been my favorite band the last few years. At times they rock like the Replacements but Ben Nichols, there songwriter/singer, has the ability to strip everything away and rip your heart out. It sounds so cliched, but I gave this album to the toughest guy I know and he sent me a text today about how this song made him cry. He has mom issues, but that's not the point.
Being away from 'home' has been a topic of conversation with me with various people recently, including the comments and the lyrics from an Avetts song in the comments of my last post. I know David has traveled everywhere and Nick and Alycia as well, but I'm sure most anyone could be affected by this one. I tried to tell my mom about it today on the phone as I was explaining that I wouldn't be able to make it home for Christmas this year. I'll play the song for her when I can, but I know I won't be able to be in the room with her.
