Saw the movie last night. Great music (and movie)....although I'm still not sure about the Bollywood dance number at the end. I think Nick (perhaps Ross?) was the choreographer for that one.

Useful Links
I added "useful links" to the blog. I'm assuming that you guys have the feature available to you to add additional links to the ones I've included here. If you don't, you can send them to me and I'll add them. I received word that Bruce Springsteen, Bon Iver, and Franz Ferdinand released new albums today, so I was trying to find a way to link this blog to new album release pages. This may not be the best way to do it, but I'll keep trying different things. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Some Change
It's good to see that change we've been hearing so much about (click on title to access Washington Post article). So, to celebrate this, I decided to post a link to Melissa Ethridge's song, "I Need to Wake Up" from An Inconvenient Truth. I'm not at all a fan of Melissa Ethridge, but it's the most relevant song I could think of. Rollover by the String Cheese Incident would probably suffice, but there were no good links to that one.

But, lucky for you (and me) I ran across Arcade Fire's video "Wake Up" since it has a similar title. So, I've embedded it here to ensure that Melissa Etheridge's voice is not swimming around in your head all day. You're welcome.

Phish Downloads
Here is a link to download most of Phish's shows throughout the years. I found it extremely helpful since there are not many sites to download phish and most of my shows are still on tapes!
Enjoy!

Dresden Dolls
I saw this band at a Rock the Vote event on tuesday night here in DC at the 930 Club. They closed with a piano smashing version of this. Self described punk cabaret is not exactly my cup of tea, but they are on my list of bands to see next time they come to town. In the mean time, we can probably enjoy this sentiment . . .
P.s. What's with the Boss not getting an oscar nomination for best original song?

Van Morrison at the Hollywood Bowl

To be released February 10. For a live review from the LA Times: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2008/11/live-review-van.html (P&R, Richard Davis is mentioned.) And, knowing that Astral Weeks is at the top of many people's list of favorite Van Morrison albums, I would also like to recommend Veedon Fleece if you haven't heard it. Perfect for sitting down with a glass of wine and a good book.

Profile Pictures

Since I'm having a hard time getting back to "work" after a long vacation, I decided to comment on my love of a good profile picture. Although I still think Peter's Facebook picture takes first place (I took the liberty of posting it here), I must say that Greg's comes in a close second (click on GCochran). Well done, gentlemen, well done.

Win big
so this is my first post. It is nothing new, but just a little nostalgia. Hopefully it doesn't get me banned or completely discredit everything I may do from here on out.

The Wrestler
"I wrote Bruce a letter, because we've known each other over twenty years, and he knows what I used to be, or whatever. Where I went. What I'd been reduced to. I told him how I felt lucky now and didn't have to end up being this guy, being Randy (character from The Wrestler). A while later, I got a call in the middle of the night: he said he'd written a little song, for nothing. It's fucking beautiful, right? I was honoured he took the time, because he's a busy cat. I mean, I'm so goddamn proud of this magical movie and to have Bruce's input… ain't nobody in Hollywood with all their millions can just ring the man and he'll do a song, y'know?"
