Most of you that either read and/or contribute to this blog know me fairly well. So, you also know that I've been a freak about music my whole life. What I mean by "freak" is that music consumes a majority of my spare time. If I'm not listening to it at home, at work, or at a show, I'm usually talking about it. This could be the result of a decade of failed music lessons....who knows. I also have an "external hard drive" test that can let me know almost immediately if I will be good friends with someone when we first meet. Some of you have been given this test, whether you were aware of it or not. Don't worry, you passed. I've also been known to force people to listen to a song and sush them when he or she tries to talk during it. If I ask you if you've heard of a musician and you say "no", then I'll typically burn a DVD of the bands' entire catalog and you'll have it in your hands the next day. Recognizing, of course, that your life will not be complete without it. Well, last night, I met someone very similar. When I was asked about the bands below, he pulled out his computer and hard drive immediately and played some samples. I, of course, pulled out my little music notepad (which most of you know I carry) to write down the names of these bands so I wouldn't forget. Thanks, Mitch.
William Elliott Whitmore:
Woven Hand:
The Felice Brothers:
Split Lip Rayfield:
And, to finish, there was a fairly extensive conversation regarding the past two albums from The Band's Levon Helm.

If you ever shush me, depending on who it is for, I'm getting the fuck out of there.
