I've been looking all over for you

My favorite concert last year was The Big Surprise Tour - which included Justin Townes Earle, The Felice Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine, and Old Crow Medicine Show. They played lots of old favorites, but one new song they played and I immediately loved was "Ruby." I couldn't wait to post it here and download a copy. Except. I couldn't find it anywhere. I was so bummed out.

Then, this morning on my way to work - I recognized it immediately! "Ruby" by Dave Rawlings Machine was playing on the radio. And alas, there is finally a video so you can check it out too. Oh and you'll probably recognize her in the video - the incredibly talented Gillian Welch is part of DRM.

So without further adieu ...



You may know this but I'll throw it out there. Dave Rawlings has produced for Gillian and Old Crow Medicine Show. He's also written songs with Ryan Adams - here's Dave Rawlings Machine performing "To Be Young (is to be sad,is to be high).



And for the encore, let's play "Bells of Harlem"...



P.S. Alycia - I think you need to invite Dave Rawlings Machine down to Blackshear. Gillian Welch looks like she could use some of your mom's southern cooking. And as a thank you, they could put on a show at the hay barn. :)

The Big Surprise Tour

The press release described it thus "In a free form ramshackle flow, the bands and artists will share the stage, taking part in each other's songs, resurrecting old standards, and playing newly written collaborative material as they go..."

Went last night. Great show!!! A little bit country, a little bit bluegrass, a little bit rock'n'roll. If you have a chance to go to one of the few remaining performances left - go! Remaining stops are Cary, NC, Louisville, KY, and Nashville & Knoxville, TN.
